Book Excerpts
Think bigger Braxton remembered the girl telling him. Without even thinking, before climbing his porch steps, Braxton tossed the coin as high as he possibly could. He followed its fall into his hand. He smiled at his catch. Behind his mom Braxton caught the closing front door.
Inside of the room ended up being outside, which was one of Braxton’s favorite places. He stood next to the court as he watched two women pound the small tennis ball back and forth. It didn’t take Braxton long to figure out which of the women was Althea Gibson.
“What can’t this man do?” Braxton didn’t have to wait long to find out. Paul Robeson exited stage left with Braxton flowing in his wind.
